ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE®

Active Release Techniques® (ART®) is a system designed to treat soft-tissue injuries (fascia, muscles, ligaments, tendons,) release nerve entrapments and enhance circulation. There are over 500 different protocols that target specific injury sites, acting to break up scar tissue formed by the body’s natural healing mechanism.

Scar tissue, which is dense and tough, can restrict range of motion, decrease strength, entrap nerves and cause pain. By combining specific massage techniques with movement, ART® can counter these effects and help return you to your activities of choice!

Conditions Treated with ART®:

  • Headaches
  • Back pain
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Shin Splints
  • Shoulder pain (rotator cuff injuries)
  • Sciatica
  • Tennis and Golfer’s Elbow
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Knee injuries (iliotibial band syndrome, MCL/LCL sprains, patellar tendonitis)
  • Ankle Sprains
  • TMJ dysfunctions
  • Whiplash
  • And many other disorders…

Our practitioners at Foundations will also provide you with advice and rehabilitative exercises to complement your ART® treatment to prevent future re-occurrences.
